Week in Review: Week 4

It's so hard to believe we're into the 4th week of the new year!  I think I finally have myself trained to write 2015 instead of 2014.  I probably just jinxed myself, though!

I got my first FabFitFun box in the mail and I'm obsessed!  Be on the lookout for a breakdown of all the items and how you can get your own box at a special price.

It's almost the end of January and we finally got our first snow!  I was so excited, especially because my parents went skiing for the weekend and I had to stay home and work.

After church Sunday, two of my favorite little buddies asked me to join them for lunch.  How can you say no to those faces?!?  I just love them.

During lunch, we had a photo shoot.  Dean, who's newly 6, would yell out faces for us to make.  At one point he called out, "Sadder, Angela, sadder!"

Speaking of being sad, this little baby tore her ACL.  She's on medicine and we're watching her for a couple weeks.  I really hope she doesn't have to have surgery.  It's so pathetic and heartbreaking to watch her hobble around.

That being said, Freedom still thinks she can do everything she normally does.  We've had to block off the stairs so she won't go up them.  As you can see, we only use the best for our little girl, the box for Dad's popcorn maker.

Makeup Monday: Time to Toss?

My favorite foundation has been discontinued.  Okay, it's been discontinued for a couple years, but I just opened my last tube.  I told my mom and the first thing she did was ask me how old my makeup was.  It got me thinking, how long is too long?  I did a little research and am embarrassed to say most of my makeup is way past its expiration date.

Eye Products:
Mascara: 2-3 months.
I'm terrible about using mascara forever.  Something I've tried to do is label the top of the lid with the date I open the tube.  I see it everyday so it's a nice reminder to get a new one.
Brow Gel: 12-18 months
Liquid Eyeliner: 6-12 months
Pencil Eyeliner: 2 years
Cream Eyeshadow: 12-18 months
Powder Eyeshadow: 2 years

Face Products:
Concealer: 6-12 months
Liquid Foundation: 6-12 months (whoops!)
Powder Foundation: 2 years
Powder Blush: 2 years
Cream Blush: 12-18 months

Lip Products:
Lip Gloss: 12-18 months
Pencil Lip Liner: 2 years
Lipstick: 2 years

Shower Products:
Loofah: 1 month
Bar Soap: 12-18 months
Body Wash: 12-18 months
Body Scrub: 2 years
Shampoo and Conditioner: 3 years

Skin Care:
Face Wash: 6-12 months
Face Lotion: 12-18 months
Eye Cream: 6-12 months
Face Masks and Peels: 2-3 months
Acne Creams and Washes: 6-12 months
Body Lotion (Pump): 3 years
Body Lotion (Jar): 2 years
Sunscreen: 6-12 months

Miscellaneous:
Hairspray: 3 years
Perfume: 3 years
Nail Polish: 2 years
Nail Files: 2-3 months
Brush Heads: 2-3 months

This is a lot to take in and remember, so I made a picture that you can pin and have as a reminder!

Week in Review: Week 2

How has your week been?  This past week has been eventful and I can't wait to tell all of you about it soon.  Until then, here's a review of my (rather slow) week on Instagram.

My mom's birthday was last Thursday so I posted this picture from Mary's wedding.  I love this picture of the two of us.  I'm so lucky to have not only as a mom, but as a friend.

Temperatures really dropped last week and the heat at work just couldn't keep up.  I sent my parents a message about how cold I was and when I met them for dinner, my dad had sent me a blanket.  Isn't that the sweetest?

A new tapas place opened in Huntington, The Cellar Door, so we went there this week.  I was late because I went to a workout class so there wasn't much food left when I got there.  The few bites I had were good, though!  I fell in love with the decor.  How awesome is that chandelier?

Target Designer Collaboration: Spring 2015

It's that time of year again, Target has announced their most recent designer collaboration ... are you ready for it? LILLY PULITZER!!  There have been some mixed reviews after the announcement, but I am so excited!  I love the company and can't wait for it to be more affordable.  The only time I've worn anything of hers was when I rented a dress for Mary's wedding rehearsal and I loved it!

Target launched its first designer collaboration back in 2003 with Isaac Mizrahi.  Since then, Target has paired up with more than 150 different designers to bring a touch of high fashion to a lower price point.  Lilly joins the ranks of Alexander McQueen, Proenza Schouler, Missoni, Jason Wu and more!  These collections are always top sellers and usually sell out within days.

Lilly Pulitzer was created in 1959 by its namesake, Lilly.  A Palm Beach socialite who always wanted to present herself perfectly.  To reach that goal, Lilly created her now signature shift dress using bright colors and patterns to "hide juice stains" she might get from the citrus groves her husband owned and operated.  Her designs became popular and scored fans such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis.  During the last 5 decades, the company has stayed true to its colorful, preppy resort style and appeals to women of all ages.

Starting April 19th, Lilly for Target will be available in stores and online.  The 250 piece collection features features 15 exclusive prints.  And unlike other collaborations that only go up to size 16, Lilly will offer plus sizes.  It's not just clothes that will be released, there will be home décor featuring everything from lawn chairs to wine glasses.  The majority of the items will be less than $30, with the full price range of $2-$150 making sure there is something for everyone!

Those who oppose the collaboration say the brand is "selling-out" and this will "cheapen" it.  I think it's a great move and expands her fan base to people who might not have access to her otherwise.  Regardless of what people think, I'll be there as Target opens its doors April 19th to be one of the first people to get my hands on this collection.

What do you think?  Will you be joining me?

Week in Review: Week 1

How was your first week of the new year?  Here's an overview in pictures of mine!

I know I've already posted this picture once, but seriously, how cute is it?

Josh actually asked to hold Christopher during Sunday School and neither one cried!

I've started taking Freedom out on longer walks, about 2 miles each, and I found her like this after one of them.  She stayed like this forever, even when I was fixing lunch in the KITCHEN. (Her favorite word)

My "weekends" are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  This past Tuesday, Mom fixed soup for dinner since it was so cold out and Dad popped some popcorn in his new popcorn maker and we watched Modern Family on TV all night.

I left the couch for seriously 2 minutes to get more tea and I come back to find this: someone had stolen my blanket!  She runs our house!

Hello 2015!

I had to work New Year's Eve, but as soon my show was off the air at 10:57, I was headed to a New Year's Eve Party.  Some family friends host a game night where we play a card game called United Nations, think of the game War but being able to look at your cards and strategize.  It had been two years since they hosted the party so I was excited to get over there.  While I missed getting to play in the game, it was fun to watch the last few rounds and see everyone.  Some of the people there are people I went to high school with but now only see a couple times a year so it's great to catch up.

With Momma right after the clock struck midnight

I have the best parents

I love my family

I love this picture.  Some of these little brothers have been together since kindergarten and now they're halfway through their sophomore year of college.  They may have gone to different high schools and colleges, but when they're in town, they're always together.  A friendship like this is rare and so special.  Plus, they were the ones who asked to have this picture taken.  How precious is that?

Since I was only at the party for an hour, I didn't get too many pictures.  How did you bring in the new year?  Do you have any New Year's Eve traditions?

New Month Resolutions: January

The past couple of years instead of New Year's Resolutions, I've tried doing New Month Resolutions.  I hate to admit that I haven't done very well with the follow through, but I'm hoping this year will be different.  Now I have you guys to keep me accountable!  I'm hoping that by sharing my monthly resolutions with you, I'll do better following them.  Before, I would try to make my monthly goals but not tell anyone.  Hopefully, now that the goals are out in the open, I'll do better!

Why every month? I hope that by adding in small changes every month, it becomes habit.  I've heard it takes 20-30 times for something to become a habit.  Maybe that's why there are roughly 30 days in every month?  My goal is that by the end of the month, it doesn't feel like an effort.

January New Month Resolutions
1. No phone/ipod while driving:  While I try to never text while actually driving, I'm guilty of responding to texts while I'm at a red light, pressing the next button on my iPod or Shazaming a song.   This month, I'm putting a stop to all of that.  The only time I'm allowing myself to use my phone at all while being the driver in the car is for maps.  I'm terrible with directions so cutting me off from that could end in a disaster.
2. 10,000 steps a day: I got a Fitbit for Christmas and it's shown me just how few steps I take during the day.  It can get tough working as a producer and sitting at a desk all day, but I'm going to make an effort to get up and take more steps.  In the week I've had the Fitbit, the only time I hit 10,000 steps was a day at the mall!  Hey, if that's what it takes! ;)
3. Read 4 books: Last January I read 3 books and this year I challenge myself to read one more.  I'm a big reader, but as I learned last year, working full time definitely hindered my reading time.  What books are on your "to read" list?  After finishing the Friday Night Lights TV show, I have that book on my list as well as My Week With Marilyn.
4. Keep water bottle full: I always take a water bottle to work with me, but when it's empty, I rarely refill it.  I'm going to make an effort in this month to walk to the water fountain as soon as my bottle is empty and fill it up.  Plus, that'll force me to get some extra steps in!

What are your New Year's Resolutions?  Will you be joining me in making it a New Month Resolution instead?
