What I Wore Wednesday

I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy today for What I Wore Wednesday. My mom and I went to Lord & Taylor last week and did some serious damage. Everything was on sale, everything. One of my favorite tops is from this shopping spree. I just got it but have already worn it approximately 54864 times. #sorryimnotsorry It's perfect for this weather and I'm obsessed with it.

Best and Worst of the Golden Globes 2016

Award season officially kicked off last night with the Golden Globes!  Let's face it, everyone tunes in for the fashion, am I right?  Here's a list of my top 8 best and worst looks from last night.

Worst:

Can you even see a dress on Amanda Peet?  This dress blends in with her skin tone and does nothing for her.

Cate Blanchett wore custom Givenchy but it was a total miss.  It looks like a grandma's silk nightie, no thanks.

Is is just me or does Jane Fonda's Yves Saint Laurent gown look like a lampshade?  I'd like to see the dress without the ruffles at the top.

Other than her abs, I'm not a huge fan of Kate Hudson's look.  I really don't even know where to begin with this.  Is she really wearing a neck piece?  I feel like this outfit is a throwback to something Britney Spears wore in the 90s.

Maggie Gyllenhaal's Marc Jacob's dress looks more like upholstery than it does a red carpet dress.

Melissa McCarthy designed this outfit but it's a miss.  Melissa has lost so much weight and this dress doesn't show that off at all.  This funny girl should stick to acting.

I'm not sure what's going on with Regina King's dress but it's too much.  Between the gold swirls and the cape, this dress just isn't for me.

Rooney Mara's dress is just a mess.  This Alexander McQueen dress washes her out and looks like it was just a bunch of fabric thrown together.  Plus, it looks a lot like Amanda Peet's dress, another miss.

Best:

Brie Larson looked like a Golden Globe in this cutout Calvin Klein dress.

Helen Mirren.  Need I say more?  She was gorgeous in Badgley Mischka.  I love the sheer overlay at the top and the neckline.  So gorgeous.

How hot does Jennifer Lawrence look in Dior?  Just look at those oblique cutouts!!  Totally jealous!

Kate Winslet was classic in Ralph Lauren.

White was THE color of the night and Laverne Cox was no exception in Elizabeth Kennedy. 

Lily James looked like a real life princess in Marchesa.  I love how flow the dress is and the slight cutout in the bust is to die for!

Olivia Wilde looked gorgeous in Michael Kors.  The plunging neckline is perfect plus she had Jason Sudekis on her arm! ;)

Taraji P. Henson is the definition of fierce in this white-hot Stella McCartney dress.

Wardrobe Wednesday Breakdown

It's been a while since I've done a Wardrobe Wednesday Breakdown, mainly because I'm really awkward at: 1. Taking Selfies/Mirror Pics and 2. Asking people to take a picture of me.  I bit the bullet and did the former of the two.

I was in Louisville weekend before last for a wedding and two exits from our hotel was an outlet mall.  And in that outlet mall was a Kate Spade store!  And in that Kate Spade store was a sale: 50% off everything and then another 20% off on top of that!!  Add to that the rack that said "Under $100" and Mom and I were in heaven.  I feel like we did a really good job limiting ourselves, but we did have some fun!  I found this adorable sweatshirt and couldn't wait for temperatures to cool off so I could finally wear it.

I actually found the sweatshirt here but it's currently sold out.  

I mean how cute is that bow?  It's so comfy, too!

If you're impatient and don't mind it in a sweater form instead of the sweatshirt, there's this option.

My pants are LC Lauren Conrad Collection from a couple years ago.  I found similar pants of hers here -- and they're on sale!  Can we also just take a moment and admire my boots?  I love them and they're so comfortable!  They're "Sanabel" from Kate Spade Fall 2012 and just the best.  Since the shoes are no longer made, I did find you some other options.

NYFW Days 4-7: Fashion Guerrilla

The last few days of fashion week were a little slower paced, but no less exhausting.  We focused solely on Fashion Guerrilla, an overseas project sponsored by the government in Hong Kong.  The goal is to promote designers from the country in the overseas.  Ten designers traveled to the United States for fashion week.  Four of the 10 showed collections and the remaining 6 set up shop in a showroom for market appointments.

My main job in the days leading up to the show was to assist the designers in whatever they needed.  This gave me a chance to meet the designers and get to know them and they were all so sweet and excited to be showing in NYFW.  I also helped create the rundown for the programs by writing the descriptions of all the outfits.  The collection Daydream Nation had some of the best names for the clothes: "The Chuckle", "Dreamers Paradise Tea Dress", "Lazy Pants" and "Chihuahua Garden Embroidered Tee" just to name a few.

Before the show started, I helped with placing (and folding 250+) programs and seating cards on the seats. 

My favorite of all the Fashion Guerrilla designers was Methodology.  The clothes are super cute and super girly and something I would totally wear.  Plus, the designer, Glory, was the absolute sweetest.  Here I am with her.

The day after the fashion show, we hosted a reception for the designers as a chance to meet and network.  We interns took it as a chance to snap a few pictures together.

Add one more day of cleaning up and tearing down the showroom, and that was the end of my first NYFW experience.

NYFW Day 3 Part 2: Betsey Johnson

Oh Betsey!  I can only hope to be half as fabulous and spunky as she is when I'm 73!  Well, let's be honest, I can only hope to be half as fabulous and spunky (and flexible! Have you seen her splits?!?!) as Betsey at 24!  Seeing her show was so magical.  Words truly can't do the show justice.  It's a nonstop party from when the first person arrives backstage to when the last person leaves.  Champagne was flowing and a DJ was spinning and that's before the show even started.

Upon arrival, I helped place seat cards, programs and gift bags for 1,000 guests.

This show was so cool!  This is the 50th anniversary of Betsey and she dedicated this show to her former dance teacher, Ann Pimm, who is now 93 and based out of Wethersfield, CT. She even made the trip to the city for the show!

The name of the show was "The Curious Case of Betsey Button".

Waiting for the show to begin!!  I helped seat people and then headed to the back of the house to watch the show.  This show featured clothes from every decade of Betsey's career.  I wish I had better pictures, but I was too far away and too focused on the show.

The model walks were so different from the regular serious walk.  Betsey's models danced up the runway and sang along to the music.  When I tell you it was a party from to start to finish, that party carried onto the runway.  It made me want to be a model just to be up there dancing and joining in on the fun.

I totally teared up during the last collection.  The music changed to Broadway songs: "Don't Rain on My Parade" kicked it off, and I got instant chills.  Everything just sank in.  I was at Fashion Week.  I was WORKING Fashion Week.  How surreal is that?

Everyone stood up to see the famous split and cartwheel which blocked my view some so the next few pictures are from Getty Images.

Then the models ran out with balloons:

A Betsey show is truly an experience and so much fun.  I still can't believe I got to work it; but I have this baby to make it real!

And as if my day wasn't great enough, I got upgraded to a signature room when I checked into my hotel!  Thanks, Hotel Edison!

I then proceeded to sleep for almost 9 hours!  The end.
